Celtics Injury Report: Al Horford, Marcus Smart Back For Game 2 Against Heat

Down 1-0 in the series against the Heat, the Celtics will get two key players back for Game 2, including the Defensive Player of the Year.

Marcus Smart Injury Update

Smart is listed as probable for Game 2 after missing Game 1 with a mid-foot sprain he suffered in the series finale against the Bucks.

The Pro Basketball Docs thought he had a solid chance to play effectively in Game 1, thus the extra rest should have him ready to go for Thursday's contest.

The Defensive Player of the Year should get the defensive assignment against Jimmy Butler, who scored 41 on 12-19 shooting in Game 1.

Al Horford Injury Update

The veteran big man has cleared health and safety protocols and will make his return in Game 2.

It remains unclear if he ever tested positive for COVID-19, but he should be able to play his usual minutes.

Robert Williams III played increased minutes in Game 1 and looked fresh after missing the final four games of the Milwaukee series with a left knee bone bruise.

Williams had 18 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks in Tuesday's game.

Derrick White Update

White will miss Game 2 because of "personal reasons," namely the birth of his child.

Payton Pritchard and Aaron Nesmith will likely play increased roles with White out.

Celtics vs Heat Game 2 Odds

The Celtics are 2-point underdogs and the over/under is 207, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
