Chance For Michael King to Be Ready Next Season After Elbow Fracture

Yankees' reliever Michael King suffered a fractured right elbow while throwing a slider in Friday's game and will miss the remainder of the season.

While the type of fracture remains unclear, King is likely to be ready for the start of next season, according to the Pro Baseball Docs.

He reportedly underwent an MRI to see if there is ligament damage associated with the fracture, but any ligament damage likely would not involved the UCL.

Michael King Injury Update

King, who has pitched the most innings out of the bullpen for the pinstripes, immediately left the game after throwing to Ramon Urias.

The training staff came out to check on him and appeared to say that “his elbow just popped.”

Elbow fractures in pitchers don't happen out of thin air.

King likely already had damage to the bone in his elbow that fractured and the slider was the straw that broke the camel's back, according to our Pro Baseball Docs.

Before his major league debut, King had a stress reaction in February 2019 that shut him down for three weeks.

Dave Dravecky broke his left arm while pitching in August 1989, but that was after undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous tumor on his pitching arm.
