Chargers Place Jerry Tillery, Joey Bosa on COVID Reserve List

The Chargers placed defenders Joey Bosa and Jerry Tillery on the COVID reserve list Tuesday, putting their availability in doubt for this Sunday versus the Steelers. Ironically, it is Bosa, who is reportedly unvaccinated, that has the better chance to play on Sunday. Tillery is vaccinated but apparently tested positive, meaning that he needs to have to negative two consecutive negative tests to be cleared to play for the Sunday contest in Los Angeles. Because the game is five days away, Bosa could play if he doesn't test positive.

He was placed on the COVID list as a close contact and therefore must be away from the team and continue his daily testing for five days before he can come off the list. Of course, if Bosa tests positive he will be out for 10 days as well. The Steelers have COVID-19 issues of their own, as quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick remain on the reserve list and may miss the contest.
