Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds suffered a high ankle sprain Sunday on his first run against the 49ers and could miss at least three weeks. By video, Edmonds was hit on the outside of his left leg while he was getting tackle, then he limped to the sideline. We did not see a definitive video angle of the tackle, but the mechanism was consistent with a high ankle sprain. Edmonds will miss a significant stretch of time and could be facing an IR stint.
The Cardinals play the Panthers in Week 10, then the Seahawks before getting a bye Week 12. The bye week could allow the Cardinals to keep Edmonds off IR. If he is placed on IR he would be eligible to return Week 14. James Conner had 21 carries for 96 yards and two touchdowns, plus catches for 77 yards and a touchdown in the win over the 49ers. Expect to see a lot more of Conner, with 22-year-old running back Eno Benjamin in the mix as well.
