Chase Young, Washington's second-year star pass rusher, tore the ACL in his right knee in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers. The 22-year-old suffered the non-contact injury on a pass rush in the second quarter and will miss the rest of the season. The news was trending this way and Young was seen on the sideline on crutches shortly after the injury. Given the timing of the injury, Young will have an uphill battle to be ready for the start of next season. Depending on his recovery rate, he might not look like his usual self until the middle or end of next season.
Washington's right defensive end Montez Sweat is on IR with a broken jaw and strong side linebacker Jon Bostic is out for the season with a torn pectoral muscle. Starting running back Antonio Gibson is also managing a stress fracture in his shin that will not fully heal until the offseason. Veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered a hip subluxation Week 1 and has been IR ever since.
