Chiefs' Lucas Niang Leaves Game With Right Knee Injury

Chiefs starting right tackle Lucas Niang left the game on a cart with right knee injury and will not return.

Niang was filling in at left tackle for Orlando Brown, who suffered a calf injury during warmups.

By video, Niang was in pass protection when Bengals defender Trey Hendrickson pushed him backwards and he collapsed.

He left the field on a cart and we have significant worry for a patella tendon tear.

If confirmed, his season would be done.

Joe Thuney will move over serve as the left tackle, while Nick Allegretti will enter the game as left guard.

Backup center Austin Blythe is the only remaining backup lineman on the active roster.

Niang missed all last season while recovering from a torn labrum he suffered in college.

Update

Niang reportedly suffered a torn patella tendon, confirming our initial thoughts. We will undergo season-ending surgery.
