Chris Godwin Suffers Right Knee Injury, Officially Ruled Out

Chris Godwin, the Buccaneers star receiver, suffered a right knee injury early in the second quarter against the Saints.

By video, Godwin caught a pass over the middle and was about to take his second step when he was hit directly on the right knee by Saints cornerback P.J. Williams.

Godwin, who is third in the league in receptions this season, was able to walk off under his own power and went to the blue injury tent.

ProFootballDoc, Dr. David Chao, said he believes Godwin suffered a right knee hyperextension, with a possible MCL injury. Chao said he worries that Godwin will have a tough time returning to the game.

Godwin was seen running on the sideline with his knee heavily taped. Chao said the likely MCL injury will make it difficult for the shifty wide receiver to plant and cut.

He could try to come back, but faces long odds to play effectively right away.

Update

Godwin has been deemed questionable to return with a knee injury, fitting our assessment. His availability next week against the Panthers is also in doubt, depending on the severity of the injury.

The stud wideout has been ruled out just before the second half started.
