In late March, star New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave suffered a shoulder injury while working out in the weight room. Due to the nature of the incident being a practice and weight room injury, no video analysis is available.
The team has reported that the issue is minor, and we at sicscore.com agree with their assessment. Before the break prior to training camp starting on July 24, Olave was seen practicing in full but wore a non-contact jersey. The Saints are understandably playing it safe with their star wideout, ensuring he is fully prepared for the season.
Olave is heading into his third full season as a professional, having gained over 1,000 yards and scored more than four touchdowns in each of his first two years. Despite his success, he has yet to play a full season, missing at least one game in each of his first two years.
With the team’s cautious approach, we expect Olave to practice in full without limitations when training camp begins and to shed the non-contact jersey. This proactive measure aims to help him stay healthy and complete a full season for the first time.
Going into the new season, Olave will be Derek Carr's primary target for the second consecutive year. We anticipate another 1,000-yard season for the former Ohio State standout as he will be 100% healthy to begin season.
With the potential for the New Orleans Saints' offense to replicate their top-10 offensive ranking from 2023, where they averaged 23.6 points per game, Olave is expected to finish in the top 20 of WR fantasy rankings. The Saints WR1 has a chance to break into the top 15 if the offense replicates last season's success.
