Christian McCaffrey, the Panthers star running back, did not practice Thursday as he recovers from the hamstring strain he suffered Week 3. He was reportedly close to returning from his hamstring injury last week. We were suspicious that would happen and he did not play. We felt that he had a good chance to return Week 6, although on limited touches.
The 25-year-old missing practice is an obvious setback after his previous string of limited practices. We have significant concern for his availability heading into the week six matchup versus the Vikings. We hope he can return to practice in some fashion on Friday. If McCaffrey cannot play, Chuba Hubbard will get his third straight start. Hubbard has 220 rushing yards and 78 receiving yards in five games this year.
