C.J. Mosley, the Jets middle linebacker, missed practice Wednesday with a groin strain and will likely miss the upcoming game against the Patriots. Mosley told reporters he suffered the injury on the second-to-last defensive play of the game against the Falcons. We reviewed video of the game, but did not see when he got injured.
It is difficult to judge hamstring strain severity by video, but we are not optimistic about his chances to play this week. It has been 10 days since the Jets last game and Mosley is still nervous to test out the injury. If the 29-year-old is not able to play Sunday, it would be a huge boost for the Patriots rushing attack.
In 2019, Mosley injured his groin and attempted to return after missing four weeks. He reinjured the groin in Week 6 and had season-ending surgery. We understand his caution in returning from this hamstring injury and we certainly hope it is not as severe.
