The Jets announced that Mosley's lingering groin issue will not undergo surgery but he will be out for the next five to six weeks. His future status will then be determined but it is certainly up to a player to choose to have surgery. I am sure the option of core muscle surgery was entertained given that this is only a six week recovery and Mosley is already missing that much time. This might open up the Jets to second-guessing if Mosley isn't ready to play in 5 or 6 weeks. This wouldn't be the first time the public has second guessed the team's decision making regarding injuries ala Kelechi Osemele.
