Clyde Edwards-Helaire Leaves With Knee Injury, Return Ruled Out

Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire suffered a left knee injury in the third quarter of the Sunday night game against the Bills. By video, the Chiefs' second-year running back had his left leg trapped under him and bent back on a tackle. He stayed down on the field, then was carried off by teammates and limped to the locker room. We have significant worry for an MCL sprain and don't expect to see him return tonight. In fact, he could be headed for a short IR stint. Darrel Williams and Jerrick McKinnon will fill in at running back.

The Kansas City running back injured his left leg/hip in a similar fashion in December last year. He missed three games then returned to play in the NFC Championship against the Bills. We don't believe the past injury will complicate the recovery from his current injury.

Update

Edwards-Helaire has been ruled out with a knee injury.
