Clyde Edwards-Helaire Unlikely To Play Through Shoulder Injury Against Bengals

Clyde Edwards-Helaire, the Chiefs young starting running back, missed practice Wednesday with a shoulder injury he suffered last Sunday against the Steelers.

The 22-year-old left Sunday's game in the third quarter after he was landed on by Steelers defensive lineman Isaiahh Loudermilk on a tackle.

Edwards-Helaire was originally said to be dealing with a collarbone injury, but by video we believe it was an AC joint sprain.

After the game, head coach Andy Reid confirmed Edwards-Helaire's injury was to his shoulder, not his collarbone, but did not specify the injury.

AC joint sprains for running backs typically carry a 1-2 week recovery timeline, meaning it's highly unlikely Edwards-Helaire will play this Sunday against the Bengals.

The Chiefs (11-4) have already clinched the AFC West and sit one game clear of the Tennessee Titans for the #1 seed.

They also have competent backups in Darrel Williams and Derrick Gore, who should split touches if Edwards-Helaire misses the game.

After Edwards-Helaire exited the win over Pittsburgh, Williams had 11 rushes for 55 yards, plus 3 catches for 30 yards. Gore had 12 rushes for 43 yards and 3 catches for 61 yards.
