The Colts placed Carson Wentz on the COVID reserve list Tuesday, setting the stage for rookie Sam Ehlinger to potentially get his first career start this Sunday.
Wentz is unvaccinated, meaning he is out at least five days if he's a close contact or 10 days if he tested positive for COVID-19.
If he's just a close contact, his five days would be up Sunday and he could start in the home game against the Raiders.
Indianapolis also has COVID issues on the offensive line. Quenton Nelson and Mark Glowinski were added to the COVID reserve list before the Christmas game, while Braden Smith was added Monday.
It's unclear if any of the linemen are vaccinated. If they are, they could test out and return for the Week 17 contest.
Left tackle Eric Fisher may also miss the contest as he's dealing with a knee injury. Center Ryan Kelly is away from the team after the death of his infant daughter and has missed the last three games.
The Colts (9-6) sit one game behind the Titans in the AFC South and are currently in the first wildcard spot in the AFC.
