Colts Running Back Jonathan Taylor Hyperextends Right Knee, Will Have Difficulty Returning To Game

Jonathan Taylor, the Colts star running back, injured his right knee on a tackle in the middle of the second quarter against the Colts. By video, Taylor took a direct hit to his right knee from a Jets defender and hyperextended his knee. His right leg was not planted, thus we believe he avoided serious injury or a ligament tear. However, it will be difficult for him to return to the game and be effective. Although the Colts have not given Taylor an injury designation, we expect Nyheim Hines to take over the running back duties for the remainder of the game.

Update

The second-year running back returned to the game at the start of the second half. We still expect to see a significant amount of Hines touches in the second half. Taylor finished with 19 rushes for 179 yards and two touchdowns, including a 78-yard TD run in the second half.
