COVID Tracker: Saturday Activations Give Rams Offensive Boost, Refuel Washington's Defensive Line

Rams star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and running back Darrell Henderson Jr. and Washington defensive lineman Jonathan Allen were 3 of the 20 players to be activated from the COVID/reverse list on Saturday.

Also in that list of returnees are linebacker Justin Hollins, offensive tackle Alaric Jackson, and cornerback Dont'e Deayon for the Rams, who are in line to start for reserve list residents Von Miller, Rob Havenstein, and Jalen Ramsey, respectively.

The Washington Football Team will get almost its entire defensive line back in the form of Montez Sweat – who is set to play for the first time since Oct. 31 with a fractured jaw – Casey Toohill, James Williams-Smith, and Khaleke Hudson.

Both the Rams and the Football Team had their games postponed to Tuesday because of the overwhelming number of COVID cases they were dealing with. That number remains high, with LA facing 20 absences and Washington 15.

The Browns, meanwhile, saw defensive end Takkarist Macklinkey activated, but lost another starting offensive lineman in right tackle James Hudson III. Cleveland is down its left tackle, right guard, and right tackle heading into Monday night versus the Raiders.

Also getting a boost are the Lions', Dolphins', and Giants' defensive backfields, with Detroit corner Ifeatu Melifonwu and free safety Tracy Walker, Miami strong safety Jevon Holland, and New York strong safety Xavier McKinney slated to start on Sunday. The Lions and Giants are facing MVP candidates in Kyler Murray and Dak Prescott, and will need the additions in coverage to compete.

The NFL instituted new protocols, agreed upon by the league and the NFLPA, allowing vaccinated players to return after only 1 negative test, which allowed many of the players to be placed on the reserve list to return.
