Cowboys star left tackle Tyron Smith is reportedly dealing with a bone spur in his left ankle and may miss time. The seven-time Pro Bowler left the 20-16 win over the Vikings late in the second quarter and did not return.
Our assessment is that bone spurs do not go away without surgery and will typically take four weeks to heal. With the Cowboys at 6-1 and in a commanding lead in the NFC East, it would be a good time to get Smith right by placing him on IR. If he does miss time, they will have to make a decision between Ty Nsekhe, La’el Collins, or Terence Steele. All options are on the table, according to owner Jerry Jones. The Cowboys take on the 4-4 Broncos this weekend and quarterback Dak Prescott will make his return after missing last week.
