Creighton center Ryan Kalkbrenner suffered a left knee injury in Thursday night's win over San Diego State and will miss the rest of the tournament.
By video, the 7-foot-1 center was injured on an attempted pass inside to him late in the game. His knee shifted slightly when SDSU center Aguek Arop bumped into it.
Kalkbrenner fell down, then attempted to get up and run down court before falling down again holding his left knee.
The ProBasketballDocs believe the sophomore suffered a patella subluxation, which carries a recovery of 2-3 months.
Creighton head coach Greg McDermott confirmed Thursday night that Kalkbrenner will miss the rest of the tournament.
Kalkbrenner's loss deals a big blow to Creighton's chances of beating Kansas in the next round Saturday. He was Creighton's second-leading scorer (13.1 points per game) and second-leading rebounder (7.7 rebounds per game). He also averaged 2.6 blocks per game.
Creighton's backup center KeyShawn Feazell averaged just 9.1 minutes per game this season.
Kansas' starting center David McCormack averages 10.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game this season.
