The index finger is a non-issue for the Cowboys quarterback but the shoulder issue is indeed something to worry about and watch despite the MRI that did not show any structural damage. By video, he was dumped onto his right elbow after a rollout of the pocket. When his elbow hit the ground, this forced his shoulder up likely causing a rotator cuff contusion. The reason he was able to finish the game is because swelling does not set in immediately. Now that the swelling has increased it makes sense that he is unable to throw. It is good news that there is no tear shown on MRI but this does not guarantee that the swelling will go away in time for the NFC east matchup against the Eagles. I'm certain the Cowboys medical staff is doing everything they can including rehab, medication and injections to quiet the bursal swelling and presumed cuff contusion. The rotator cuff needs to function at close to 100% in order for Prescott to be able to throw and be accurate. At this point, given that it is Wednesday, I am not saying that Prescott will not play versus the Eagles. However, if the swelling doesn't go away he may indeed miss week 16 or play but have his ability to throw the ball down field severely hindered. Unlike his hand or bleeding index finger injury, this is indeed something to pay very close attention to leading up to Sunday.
