The Cowboys stud QB has a mild calf strain and could certainly play this Sunday but it is now our belief that he will not. If this were a playoff game or one with playoff implications, it is a certainty that Prescott would play. Given the reports of soreness after ramping up activities yesterday, it seems very clear the Cowboys will do the prudent thing and sit Prescott versus the Vikings. Dallas sits atop the NFC East at 5-1 while the three other East teams bottom out at 2-5. Longtime backup Cooper Rush will be the Cowboys starter to ensure Prescott is fully recovered before playing. The smart thing to do is to sit him given the soreness after the recovery ramp up and not risk losing him for more games. This is not considered a set back as this is the normal progression when recovering from a injury. Certainly the soreness is a warning sign to the team to hold him out but we would expect him to play next week. Hopefully the rest will allow him to be closer to 100% before the Cowboys Week 9 matchup with the Broncos.
