Dak Prescott Suffers Calf Strain on Game-Winning Throw, Will Rest Through Bye Week

Dak Prescott, the Cowboys star quarterback, reportedly suffered a right calf strain on his game-winning touchdown throw to beat the Patriots. By video, Prescott threw the pass to wide receiver CeeDee Lamb while drifting right. After the game, he told reporters he "came down funny" after the throw and has a right calf strain. A review of video indicates he starts to be slightly step slightly gingerly on that right side a few plays before his game-winning touchdown pass. Prescott was seen leaning on running back Ezekiel Elliott on his way to the locker room after the game and was in a boot during the postgame press conference. Luckily, the Cowboys get a bye week next week. They play the Vikings on Halloween night in Week 8 and Prescott will more than likely suit up.

Based on the limited video, he appears to have calf tightness and or a mild strain. We believe he will play Week 8. Of course his throwing mechanics might change, but he has put the right ankle fracture dislocation from last year essentially behind him. The fact that he is near 100% from those injuries will help him get through this calf strain.

Prescott was 36 for 51 and had 445 passing yards, three passing touchdowns and one interception in the win Sunday.
