Injury advantage: Dallas’ defense over Saints’ offense
New Orleans’ offensive health score creeped up this week after falling the past two weeks. The good news is they will get back star running back Alvin Kamara and veteran backup Mark Ingram. The bad news is the Saints look poised to be without both starting tackles for the third straight week.
Kamara suffered a left knee MCL sprain Week 9 and has missed three straight games. He’s questionable for Thursday, but is reportedly expected to play. He should get his usual touches in the running game, but expect Ingram to handle a majority of the passing down usage.
Taysom Hill will get his first start at quarterback, replacing 29-year-old Trevor Siemian. Hill is reportedly attempting to play through a partially torn plantar fascia in one of his feet. It’s more of a pain management issue and he hasn’t missed practice time the last two weeks.
Dallas is reportedly expecting to get back key pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence, who has been out since Week 1 with a Jones fracture in his left foot. While the Cowboys certainly need defensive line help, Lawrence will not be fully up to speed and could still struggle to plant on his left foot on pass rushes. He will likely match up against eighth-year backup right tackle James Hurst, with Ryan Ramczyk likely to miss the game with a nagging knee injury.
