Dameon Pierce Injury: Texans Rusher Suffers Ankle Sprain vs. Cowboys

Update: After the game, head coach Lovie Smith said Pierce could not push off on his left ankle after suffering the injury. Although it's not a great sign he couldn't reenter a close contest, the Pro Football Docs expect Pierce will play next week against the Chiefs.

Houston Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce suffered an apparent left ankle injury early in the fourth quarter.

By video, Pierce appeared to suffer an inversion ankle sprain when his left leg was landed on by Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams.

The rookie rusher walked off the field and returned to the game for just one rush after the injury.

His lone two-yard carry after the injury came with just under 11 minutes left. Eno Benjamin and Rex Burkhead handled the running back duties with Pierce out.

Prior to injury, Pierce had 21 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown.

The Texans face the Chiefs in Houston next week. Depending on overnight swelling, Pierce should be available.
