Danilo Gallinari Injury: Here's the Return Timeline for the Celtics' Forward

Celtics forward Danilo Gallinari will miss the beginning of the season after suffering a left knee meniscus tear playing for the Italian team in the World Cup Qualifiers.

The Pro Baskeball Docs assert Gallinari will require surgery to fix the tear and will likely be out until November. Depending on how quickly he recovers, he could return in the beginning or end of November.

Overall, this is good news for Gallinari and the Celtics given the non-contact knee injury. Initially, there was fear that Gallinari had suffered an ACL tear, which would have caused him to miss the season.

Boston opens up its 2022-23 schedule on Oct. 18 against the Philadelphia 76ers and plays six games in October.

If Gallinari can return in early November, he will likely have over 70 games remaining in the regular season.

The 34-year-old journeyman signed a two-year, $13 million contract with the Celtics in July. He averaged 11.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while shooting 38.1% from 3 with the Atlanta Hawks.
