Philadelphia spot-up shooter Danny Green left Game 6 in the first quarter with a left knee injury and has been ruled out for the rest of the game.
Green was injured when star center Joel Embiid fell into his left leg after a shot attempt. The 34-year-old remained on the ground in pain and was carried to the locker room.
Based on multiple video angles, the Pro Basketball Docs believe Green suffered a significant multi-ligament injury.
He is likely dealing with a torn LCL, or lateral collateral ligament, with additional damage to his PCL, or posterior cruciate ligament, according to our panel of Pro Basketball Docs.
The best-case scenario for the forward would be a bone bruise, the injury that has sidelined Ja Morant.
Regardless, the friendly-fire injury will leave the veteran swingman out for the playoffs, and he would be lucky to avoid a major reconstructive surgery.
He was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game and will reportedly undergo an MRI to evaluate the extent of the injury.
Obviously the quick rule out and news of MRI are not good news for his chances to return this series or the rest of the playoffs. At this point, a return for the start of next season would be great news.
Green averaged 5.9 points on 39% shooting from the field and 38% from 3 during the regular season.
He was shooting 40% from 3 in the playoffs, averaging 9.1 points.
His absence will push Georges Niang further into the fold. Niang has played all 11 playoff games entering tonight and is averaging 5.3 points and 1.5 rebounds on .426/.383/.800 shooting splits.
