Raiders star tight end Darren Waller injured his left knee in the 2nd quarter and is questionable to return. Based on the initial video, it looks like an MCL injury as he likely escaped a high ankle injury which is difficult to return from. Even if Waller does return, he would be limited to more of a straight-line runner. Waller got rolled up on by Cowboys cornerback Jayron Kearse at the end of a 21-yard reception to set up a field goal, giving the Raiders a 17-6 lead. He was last seen on the stationary bike. Waller leads the Raiders with 51 receptions and 610 receiving yards.
Update:
Waller was ruled out coming out of halftime with a bone bruise on his left knee. “Bone bruise” is just an MRI diagnosis, and is perhaps associated with a mild MCL injury, as first hypothesized. If it is indeed a bone bruise, it will likely be a multi-week absence.
