David Montgomery Leaves With Left Knee Injury, IR Stint Looming

David Montgomery, the Bears star running back, suffered a significant left knee injury in the fourth quarter of the game against the Lions. By video, Montgomery injured his left knee when he was tackled on a 5-yard run. He ended up at the bottom of a pile and there was not a very clear view, but we have significant worry for an MCL sprain for Montgomery. The 24-year-old was helped to the locker room by athletic trainers. He is unlikely to need surgery and should return after a short IR stint. Montgomery was helped to the locker room by athletic trainers He had 23 rushes for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns before the injury. Former Chiefs running back Damien Williams reportedly suffered a quad injury and might not be able to play Week 5 also. If Williams can't play, Khalil Herbert will start.

Update

Montgomery did not return to the game and reportedly suffered a hyperextended knee. He will undergo an MRI Monday to determine the extent of the injury.
