The Browns tight end went out later the third quarter. After a catch, a hyperflex appeared to be inflicted to his knee. He was subsequently put on injured reserve with an MCL injury. He will not need surgery and should be able to return for the Browns. In a typical year with a minimum of eight week absence and lemonade players designated for return I do not believe Njoku would have been placed on injured reserve. Given the covid-19 rules allowing an unlimited number of players to be placed on injured reserve, and the ability to return after missing three games, this seems the most likely course. Njoku status is more about the Browns utilizing the pandemic rules rather than the significance of his knee injury. Austin Hooper should take over most of the TE duties in his absence.
