DeMarcus Lawrence Suffers Fracture To Left Side, Ensures Longer Recovery Due To Plant Foot Injury

The Cowboys defensive end was seen using a scooter and a boot on his left foot for his fifth metatarsal Jones type fracture that required surgery. This is good news and bad news. The good news is, this is not a re-fracture of the right foot which was broken in his rookie year, which shortens recovery timeline. The bad news is, from his left defensive end position, this is the outside foot. This foot helps Lawrence get around the edge, and there will be added stress as he tries to recover. Thus, the timeline for recovery is longer since it is the important, outside plant foot. The Cowboys could flip him to the right side temporarily to ensure a quicker return and this is something to monitor as he nears 100%. With the good and bad news laid out, Lawrence should return late in the season but will miss over eight games in what has turned out to be a decisive injury on the defensive line.
