Derek Carr is likely done for the season. A groin injury is tough for a quarterback to overcome, and the mechanisms of taking snaps under center and opening up to throw require flexibility. The fact that Carr dressed down and was on the sideline in street clothes points to the severity of this injury, as Mariota was the only other active quarterback. Carr must have been far from playing for them to completely remove him entirely from play. Mariota is perhaps the league’s best backup, and they will have to see what he can do for the rest of the year.
