Franchise running back Derrick Henry was listed as a non-participant in the Titans' practice on Monday with an apparent hip injury ahead of their inconsequential Thursday night game against the Cowboys.
There is no clear indication of a traumatic hip injury in Saturday's loss to the Texans but the Pro Football Docs believe that Henry will more-than-likely miss this week due to the short turnaround and the impending division-deciding contest with the Jaguars in Week 18.
This late in the season – especially for a workhorse running back who takes as much contact as Henry – players will be playing with and through multiple ailments at a time and a DNP is not a red flag. Henry returned to practice on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old rushed 23 times for 126 yards and one touchdown and lost a fumble early in the fourth quarter that jump-started the Texans' comeback.
Overall, Henry is top-2 in every major statistic with 319 rushes, 1,429 yards, 13 touchdowns, 10 rushes of 20-plus yards, and 64 first downs.
The Titans have struggled on offense in the three games that rookie quarterback Malik Willis has started to the tune of 16 points and 78 passing yards per game with zero scores and three interceptions.
Henry has buoyed the Titans in those three contests with a combined 72 carries for 457 yards and five touchdowns and only running back Dontrell Hilliard – who was placed on IR for a neck injury – had over 10 touches, with 13 for 103 total yards.
