Derrick Henry, the league's leading rusher and Titans' stud running back, reportedly suffered a fifth metatarsal Jones fracture in his right foot in Sunday's win over the Colts. He will undoubtedly have immediate surgery and his season is not necessarily over. With nine games left and 10 weeks remaining in the regular season, Henry could return at the end of the season and playoffs.
Many players have tried to rush back at six weeks only to suffer a setback. Given his size and heavy usage, 8-12 weeks is a better estimate for Henry's return. The Jones fracture is common for wide receivers and skill position players that have to do a lot of running/cutting. Often X-rays don't clearly show the injury, but an MRI is pending to confirm.
We were aware Henry had a foot issue in the first quarter Sunday, but we didn't see a specific injury mechanism. The star fantasy running back finished the game and had 28 rushes for 68 yards, averaging less than half of his usual yards per carry. Jeremy McNichols will fill in at running back, but has just seven carries on the season.
