Matt Stafford - QB

Matt Stafford suffered his 2nd back fracture in as many years during a Week 9 matchup with the Raiders. Stafford injured his back on a dive into the end zone in early November and actually finished that game before being sidelined for the 2nd half of the season. No surgery was needed and  the fracture was unrelated to his previous back injury. The fracture was acute, rather than from chronic stress, so it should not have long term ramifications after he’s healed. Stafford also played through an early season hip injury and was arguably in the MVP running through the first eight games. In half a season, he was on track to throw for 4,998 yards, 38 touchdowns and 10 picks. Some give Stafford the unfair label of injury prone, but we actually believe he is quite a tough player and plays through a number of injuries while maintaining a high level of play. In any case, we anticipate that he is healthy to start the 2020 season.

Kerryon Johnson - RB

Kerryon Johnson had a strong start to his rookie season and even was the first Lions ball carrier since Reggie Bush to gain 100 yards in a game. Last season, he turned in a strong performance against the Chiefs, putting up 125 yards and a touchdown on 26 rushes. However, Johnson failed to rush for 50 yards in six of the eight games he played last year. In Week 8, he injured his right knee and underwent a knee scope. He was placed on injured reserve, but returned to play in Weeks 16 and 17. We do not know the exact nature of the injury, but my expectation is that he should be good to go for 2020 with few worries. Johnson has shown up to camp with a brace on said knee but has shown no limitations in drills.

Marvin Jones - WR

Marvin Jones missed three games last year due to ankle issues after a 2018 filled with knee issues, making that two straight seasons that have ended on injured reserve. Despite this, Jones is slated to start the 2020 campaign healthy. He has carved out a solid role in this offense, and ended last year with 62 receptions, 779 yards combined with nine touchdowns and benefits greatly with the return of a healthy Matt Stafford.
