Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll Unlikely to Require IL Stint for Shoulder Injury

On the night he was elected to his first All-Star team, Corbin Carroll exited with right shoulder soreness after a swing in the fifth inning of Thursday’s game against the Rays.

By video, Carroll’s injury appeared to be more to his neck/trapezius area behind his right shoulder. The Pro Baseball Docs are not worried about a 10-day IL stint for the 22-year-old.

The Arizona Diamondbacks right fielder missed most of the 2021 minor league season after undergoing right shoulder surgery. However, this new injury is unrelated and our panel of doctors do not project that he will need surgery.

Carroll said after the game he was worried about the shoulder given his injury history, but all initial tests came out well.

Losing the National League rookie of the year for any period of time is a blow to the first-place Diamondbacks, but luckily the Pro Baseball Docs do not expect he will miss much time, if any.

Carroll is hitting .292 with 17 home runs and 24 stolen bases in 78 games this season. He also has 60 runs scored and 44 RBIs.
