After Sunday night's 45-30 win over the Bears, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers told reporters he suffered a setback to his fractured pinky toe and "it felt worse."
Dr. David Chao, ProFootballDoc, projects that even if Rodgers suffered a setback, he will not miss game time.
It's possible that Rodgers' toe "felt worse" because the star quarterback might have been playing in his first game without a numbing injection, Chao said.
Rodgers reportedly fractured his pinky toe Week 9, when he was in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19. He has not had surgery for the injured toe and said after the Week 14 game that surgery is "a last resort."
Chao, who spent 17 seasons as the Chargers head team doctor, said he has never seen a toe injury that required delayed surgery.
"Either you put in a pin to stabilize the fracture after it happens or you wait for it to heal on its own," Chao said.
Rodgers has missed practice time since suffering the injury, but has not missed any game time.
Here are his performances since returning from the pinky toe injury:
Week 10: 292 passing yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT
Week 11: 385 passing yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs
Week 12: 307 passing yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs
Week 13: Bye
Week 14: 341 passing yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs
