Did Toradol Injections Allow Antonio Brown to Further Injure Ankle?

The Antonio Brown saga continued Tuesday when he was interviewed by Bryant Gumbel on Real Sports.

Watch ProFootballDoc, Dr. David Chao, breakdown the interview here: https://youtu.be/on7uGCrnVD8.

Brown, sitting next to his attorney, made several claims regarding his ankle injury and how that led to his infamous exit from the sidelines.

His main claim was the team regularly gave him toradol injections to manage his ankle injury. He also said this caused him to further damage the ankle to the point where he could no longer play on it.

Chao said he has no doubt Brown was given toradol injections, with Brown's permission, because it is a commonly used treatment in the NFL to manage inflammation.

However, it is not a numbing agent and did not make it so Brown could not feel if he was doing further damage to the ankle, Chao said.

After his dramatic, shirtless exit from MetLife Stadium Week 17, Chao said that based on video of the game, Brown's left ankle was legitimately injured and he was not moving well on it.

Brown reportedly refused to reenter the game in the third quarter because of the ankle injury, then head coach Bruce Arians reportedly told him to "get out."

The ankle injury caused him to miss Weeks 7 through 15. He may have suffered a setback in Week 17, but that was more than likely not because of the toradol, Chao said.

The 33-year-old, seven-time Pro Bowler has dropped strong hints on where he wants to play next. He was a recent guest on the "I Am Athlete" podcast and said he wants to play on the Ravens with Lamar Jackson.

The Baltimore quarterback later quote tweeted the clip with purple devil emoji, seemingly signaling his approval of the pairing.

Jackson's top wide receiver right now is Marquise Brown, Antonio Brown's cousin.

It remains to be seen if the former Buccaneers wide receiver will get another chance in the NFL, but his ankle injury will surely be healed by then.
