Pittsburgh wide receiver Diontae Johnson reportedly avoided serious injury to his right knee on the last play of the Steelers' loss to the Raiders. It remains to be seen what the injury was and his status going forward, but at least this calms the waters. There was plenty of internet speculation about ACL/major ligament and other damage. We stayed away from it because we did not see anything in particular on video. Granted it was not conclusive or quality video. This is another lesson in judge the injury itself, not the reaction to the injury. In Week 1, he banged knees with a Bills defender and he reacted like it was a significant injury, but he only missed two plays and wasn't on the injury report leading up to the Week 2 game. Hopefully Johnson will be available in Week 3 against the Bengals.
