Jacksonville wide receiver D.J. Chark Jr. suffered a left ankle injury in the first quarter of the Thursday Night Football game against the Bengals. By video, Chark was out blocking in the right flat and has his left ankle rolled up on by running back James Robinson. He remained down on the field and was helped onto the cart without putting weight on his left leg. Based on the video, we have worry for a significant high ankle sprain. He will undergo X-rays, which we expect will come back negative. This could easily be a multiweek absence or an IR stint for the 25-year-old. We expect him to be ruled out of the game shortly.
UPDATE
Chark reportedly suffered a fractured left ankle. This is obviously horrible news for the young wide receiver as it is the worst kind of high ankle injury. The kind that includes a broken fibula and a syndesmotic ligament tear. He will require surgery and has no chance to return until the 2022 season.
