Clowney dealt with a number of issues in 2019 including knee, core muscle and illness missing a total of three games. He had offseason sports hernia repair surgery which should recover reliably. The biggest potential medical issue delaying his signing could be his knee. In his rookie year, Clowney suffered a lateral meniscus tear which led to subsequent microfracture surgery. He has performed quite well over the years but the worry is that growth cartilage is never as strong and may not last. My hunch is a that Clowney will receive a multi-year deal based on his past performances but teams would be smart to offer a shorter deal due to the potential long term issues with his knee.
