Dodgers Injury Report: Mookie Betts Headed To IL, Likely Out A Month With Cracked Rib

Dodgers' all-star rightfielder Mookie Betts will be placed on the 10-day IL after an MRI revealed a cracked right rib according to manager Dave Roberts.

Mookie Betts Injury Update

Betts was a late scratch once again on Saturday after initial x-rays on his ribs came back negative.

The 29-year-old suffered the injury on a collision with Cody Bellinger while chasing after a flyball in the first at-bat of the first inning on Wednesday night.

Betts will miss 4-5 weeks with the fractured rib, according to the ProBaseballDocs, that appears to be caused by Bellinger's extended left elbow.

Once it heals the injury shouldn't hinder Betts' performance this season.

The loss comes at a tumultuous time for the Dodgers, who have gone 7-10 since May 30 and will be without right-handed ace Walker Buehler for at least the next three months with a right flexor strain.

Los Angeles' seemingly overflowing cornucopia of talented hitters will come in handy, as Chris Taylor flexed over from left to right field and red-hot Gavin Lux jumped from second base to left field.

The 2018 MVP is batting .273 with 17 home runs, 40 RBI, and 53 runs on an .884 OPS and has the fifth-highest WAR in the NL with 2.8.
