Utah Jazz star guard Donovan Mitchell will miss the All-Star Game with an upper respiratory (Non-COVID) illness.
Mitchell missed the All-Star practice on Saturday with the same illness.
Any All-Star Game has a low threshold to rule a player out and Mitchell is not expected to miss time with the illness, according to the ProBasketballDocs.
The 25-year-old said in a statement he is "focused on getting well and back out on the court."
Mitchell has reportedly continued to test negative for COVID-19. His absence is also likely precautionary in case he does return a positive test.
The former Louisville star is averaging 25.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists a game while shooting 45.6% from the floor and 35.1% from 3.
This was his third consecutive All-Star selection.
