Dr. Roto's NBA DFS Picks for March 4

By: Mike Holland

Tonight we have a nine-game NBA DFS slate tipping at 7:00 p.m. EST. There are some interesting injury and availability situations to keep an eye on, so we can use the info from Pro Football Doc and SICscore.com to help find an edge.

Top NBA DFS Plays Using Sports Injury Central Scores 3/4

Aaron Holiday (Phoenix Suns - SIC score 73.2)

Let’s go back to the well again with Holiday (PG/SG, $4,400 DK, PG $4,800 FD) as both Chris Paul (thumb) and Devin Booker (protocols) will miss tonight’s game against the visiting Knicks. He’s been a solid play in three of the last four games at this price on both sites. Cameron Payne’s return last game did not have much of an effect on Holiday’s role. The Suns' 73.2 SIC score reflects their current struggles with injuries, especially in the backcourt, and they will need both to handle the ball and create opportunities for others. . Payne is also in play, but we like the additional savings in salary you get with Holiday.

Tre Mann (Oklahoma City Thunder - SIC score N/A)

Mann (PG/SG, $5,500 DK, PG $6,800) is set to continue his high usage role in the absence of star rookie Josh Giddey (hip). With Giddey out, Mann continues to see 30+ minutes a night and take double-digit shot attempts. His price on DraftKings is still slow to reflect his opportunity, while FanDuel’s price makes him more of a cash consideration. OKC needs Mann to continue making plays as defenses focus on stopping Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The matchup against Minnesota presents one of the highest totals on the slate, so there will be plenty of opportunity for Mann to produce.

Daniel Gafford (Washington Wizards - SIC score N/A)

Gafford (C, $4,100 DK, C $5,200 FD) has been a solid piece all season for the Wizards. The Wizards did trade for Kristaps Porzingis, who could steal minutes from Gafford, but he has failed to take the court and is listed out again today with a knee injury. Meanwhile, Gafford has been in double figures scoring in each of the last three games. A matchup against the Houston Rockets shouldn’t scare anyone and we expect Gafford to receive a similar workload tonight. His ability to rebound and block shots makes him a nice value option in DFS.

Cedi Osman (Cleveland Cavaliers - SIC score 76.4)

Osman (SG/SF, $4,600 DK, SF/PF $4,800 FD) has had to shoulder more of the load with Caris Levert (foot) and Rajon Rondo continuing to miss time. The Cavs as a team carry a SIC score of 76.4, and the loss of Collin Sexton this year has also really hindered their playmaking ability. As long as Rondo and Levert stay out, the Cavs are going to need Osman to play solid minutes and help facilitate along with Darius Garland. They get a tough matchup on the road at Philadelphia, but Osman plays without fear. This can lead to a boom/bust type production in DFS. He’s definitely worth a look to save salary as a contrarian value play.
