Dre Greenlaw Unlikely To Return From Non-Contact Calf Injury

Dre Greenlaw, the 49ers outside linebacker, suffered a calf injury in the second quarter and is questionable to return.

By video, Greenlaw went down non-contact away from the play, then left the field.

ProFootballDoc, Dr. David Chao, said it will likely be difficult for Greenlaw to return and play effectively because the calf is crucial for acceleration.

Azeez Al-Shaair will take over for Greenlaw, who missed 14 regular season games after undergoing core muscle surgery to repair a groin strain.

The calf strain is unrelated to the groin injury, Chao said.
