Drew Brees Dealing With Multiple Rib Fractures and Collapsed Lung, Will Miss Time

It was our expectation yesterday that Brees would end up missing game time and at least Week 11. Now comes news that is much worse. He is reported to have rib fractures on both his right and left side of his chest and a collapsed lung to boot. Apparently, the left side injuries were already present, which brings into question whether a injury reporting fine will be assessed to the Saints, and indeed pregame we saw a heavy wrap/rib pad on Drew Brees as he warmed up. His injury Sunday was to his right side, and it is understandable why the team had Jameis Winston play in relief. There are different degrees of a collapsed lung and the hope is that Brees' is mild or minimal. There are no reports of him going to the hospital, which bodes better for a return in three weeks. In any case, Brees will be out into the month of November, and while Teddy Bridgewater held the team together in his absence in 2019, the Saints will have to hope Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill can replicate that success.
