The Saints quarterback is seeking a second opinion and has not been put on injured reserve yet. Reports are that he has three left sided rib fractures from the previous week and this week he suffered at least two more rib fractures on his right side including a mild collapsed lung. The rib fractures should reliably heal between two to four weeks, enough for him to play through. The question is the lung issue, and whether there was a true collapse as in a pneumothorax, or is this a pulmonary contusion with resultant swelling. In any case, Brees will not play in November, and as he is likely to miss around 3 games and a injured reserve stint would make sense. Jameis Winston entered the game in relief of Brees on Sunday, and is in line to take over, along with a mix of Taysom Hill.
