Indeed, our fears of a thumb ulnar collateral ligament tear and surgery were confirmed. No question that Brees will miss significant time, but there is also good news that he will play again this season. The surgery is relatively straightforward and carries about a six week timeline for return. In fact, surgery shortens the recovery and Brees should even avoid IR, unless the Saints have roster spot issues. He will be 100% for the second half of the season with little to no effects going forward. See accompanying video for more details.
