What we expected all along has been confirmed. After an additional opinion, Brees is indeed having a right throwing thumb ligament repair surgery. The bad news, he will miss significant time. Good news, he will have a solid return after surgery. Expect him to miss six weeks, but return to 100% or close to it in the second half of the season. If the Saints can stay viable during his absence, they could be poised for a late season run. The injury info is that Brees will return at or near 100% for the second half of the season.
