Drew Lock Shoulder Injury Details

NFL

The Broncos quarterback was knocked out of the game after being knocked onto his right elbow and jamming his right shoulder. ESPN is reporting an AC joint sprain and a 2-6 week recovery depending on the MRI. By video, the way Lock fell is not consistent with AC joint sprain but sometimes the video does lie. The wide range of 2 to 6 weeks indicates the injury may not be an AC joint sprain as it would be unusual for the recovery to take this long. A six-week injury from an AC joint sprain, even on the throwing shoulder of a quarterback should not take this long. At this point, the position on Lock remains unclear but we hope to get good news. Confirmation of an AC joint certainly is better news than a shoulder subluxation or rotator cuff contusion and if it is indeed a AC joint injury we would expect an absence closer to the two-week mark.
