Use these SIC player health scores to make decisions when setting your fantasy and daily fantasy lineups. SIC scores from ProFootballDoc estimate how effective a player will perform through injury.
Lamar Jackson (42 last week) 38
Jackson has not played the past two weeks, just as we expected. There’s still no guarantee that he plays Week 17 because the bone bruise needs rest and likely won’t be fully healed for another. Expect to see Tyler Huntley or Josh Johnson get another start.
Adam Thielen (86 last week) 57
Thielen reaggravated his left high ankle sprain in his first action since Week 13. The Vikings get a big matchup Sunday night against the Packers, but the veteran receiver faces long odds to play and be effective.
Miles Sanders (93 last week) 27
The Eagles running back suffered a fractured hand and is in serious danger of missing Week 17. He will likely undergo surgery to accelerate the healing process and ensure he’s able to grip the ball well when he returns. Philadelphia desperately needs a win against the Washington Football Team, but it will likely be Jordan Howard and Boston Scott handling the rushing reps.
D.J. Moore (37 last week) 44
The Panthers wideout has struggled through a hamstring strain the past two weeks and failed to reach 60 receiving yards each time. With Carolina eliminated from playoff contention, they would be wise to shut him down. If he does play, don’t expect him to play like his usual self.
Saquon Barkley (79 last week) 62
The young star running back has had an injury-riddled season and failed to put up many yards in the Giants’ dismal offense. His left ankle injury is the biggest thing holding him back right now and won’t improve in time for him to be effective against the Bears this week.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire (96 last week) 74
The Chiefs starting running back suffered an AC joint sprain in the win over the Steelers. He could likely play through the injury this week, but the Chiefs may be cautious with him since they’ve already locked up a playoff spot.
James Conner (88 last week) 84
Conner missed the Christmas game with a heel injury he picked up Week 15. He may be able to return this week against the Ravens, but would be splitting carries with Chase Edmonds. The former Steelers rusher likely isn’t worth the risk if other fantasy or DFS options are available.
Elijah Mitchell (52 last week) 71
Mitchell is out of concussion protocol, but has been bothered by swelling in his knee lately. He will likely be back this week for the 49ers, but will have to split snaps with Jeff Wilson.
Austin Ekeler (65 last week) 87
The Chargers star running back missed Week 16 on the COVID list, but should be back for the key divisional matchup against the Broncos this week. His high ankle sprain should be well behind him and we expect him to be effective in the running and passing games.
Antonio Gibson (87 last week) 76
The 23-year-old has had nagging injuries all season which have dampened his performance. The latest of which, turf toe, almost caused him to miss Week 16. He will likely play against the Eagles this week, but will have limited mobility.
Damien Harris (64 last week) 92
Harris suffered a hamstring strain three weeks ago against the Bills, but had 103 yards and three touchdowns last Sunday. He’s the lead back for New England and is likely due for another big game against Jacksonville.
A.J. Brown (82 last week) 92
Brown was fantastic in his first game off IR, collecting 11 catches for 145 yards and a touchdown. His cracked ribs are well behind him and we expect another big game from him against the Dolphins.
Justin Fields (51 last week) 72
Fields is dealing with a mild right ankle sprain which he could probably play through. The question is whether head coach Matt Nagy will give him the opportunity to start against the Giants in a game with no playoff implications. We think Nick Foles gets another start.
Darrell Henderson Jr. (90 last week) 18
The 24-year-old appears to have lost his job to Sony Michel and is now dealing with an MCL sprain that is likely to keep him out until the playoffs. Michel will get a majority of the work this Sunday, but Jake Funk could also be in the mix for limited carries.
Teddy Bridgewater 54
Bridgewater could have a chance to start this week, but is still in concussion protocol. He suffered his second concussion of the season Week 15 against the Bengals and the Broncos would be smart not to rush him back.
D.K. Metcalf (90 last week) 78
The hulking Seahawks receiver has been dealing with a foot injury for a majority of the season and his receiving numbers are down lately. He hasn’t topped 60 yards since late October and there’s likely more to his foot issue than meets the eye.
D’Andre Swift (87 last week) 58
The young Lions running back hasn’t played since suffering an SC joint sprain on Thanksgiving. He could likely play this week, but Detroit would be better off shutting him down and having him fully healthy for next season.
Kareem Hunt 84
The Browns’ pass catching back missed the Christmas game on the COVID reserve list, but is likely to be back for the Monday matchup against the Steelers. His high ankle sprain Week 12 should be well behind him and we expect him to be effective in his first game back.
Pat Freiermuth 42
Freiermuth suffered his second concussion of the season Week 15 and likely won’t be back this week against the Browns. With the Steelers facing long odds to make the playoffs, he should miss the rest of the regular season.
