The former Notre Dame edge rusher missed the final four games of his senior season with a broken fibula and was not recovered enough to perform at the NFL combine other than the bench press. Okwara proved he could get to the quarterback shown by his 12.5 sacks and 21 quarterback hits in 2018. He was likely scheduled for the medical recheck that was subsequently canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions. This may have hurt him in the draft process as teams do not know how the fibula has recovered since the initial break in November. If he had a standard low fibula fracture it should have minimal effect but the worry is if he has an ankle fracture with syndesmotic ligament disruption. This complication combined with an ineffective senior season could drop him in the draft.
